Week 40, 2026 - Comic-Con, Cocktails and Cunning Plans for the coming year!
Another week at Red Cape… 🎪⚽🃏🎅👻
With September finishing at full speed at Red Cape HQ, we went straight from Runcorn Comic-Con at Runcorn Shopping City into a double meeting at the Accu Stadium to talk about what’s coming next.
And there is rather a lot coming next. 😂
Monday’s meetings covered our Quarter 4 events, including They Think It’s All Over – The Huddersfield Edition on 22 November and our upcoming Santa & Friends events, before moving firmly into 2027 and the next stages of our Huddersfield Card Shows and Comic-Cons.
Following the really encouraging debut of the Huddersfield Card Show in September, we’re already filling next year’s calendar, with Saturday 13 February and the actual Comic-Con on Saturday 8th May 2027 now confirmed at the Accu.
⚽ They Think It’s All Over has taken another big step forward too.
It was great catching up with Huddersfield Town Football Club Andy Booth at the stadium — and we’ve now started creating an official collectible player-card series for the event, with Boothy appropriately taking the Player 01 slot.
Because apparently simply putting on a football event wasn’t complicated enough. 😂
The event itself is shaping up brilliantly, bringing together former Town players, memorabilia, photo opportunities and an Official Panini Swap Shop Station — with plenty more still being worked on behind the scenes.
🎅 Meanwhile, Christmas continues quietly taking over another part of my life.
The North Pole Archives continues to grow, the 100 Days to Christmas archive countdown is well underway, work continues on the books and Santa Claus Compendium, and we’re developing our UK grotto directory and connections with Christmas venues around the country.
A meeting up at The Weaver’s Shed, Golcar has led to a booking system being developed for their website as the head towards reopening the restaurant side of things - can’t wait for that this month!
🎃 And because we’re now into October, naturally things are becoming increasingly spooky.
This weekend we’ve been working on plans for our Ghost Train, complete with Ghostbusters, monsters and considerably more Halloween madness to come.
Alongside all of that, work has continued on ASACC – As Seen At Comic-Con, Monkey’s GigsList, our websites, traders, events and the various other things that somehow find their way onto the Red Cape whiteboard.
What I’m increasingly enjoying is seeing things that once looked like completely separate projects beginning to connect:
Events. Entertainment. Collectibles. Football. Live music. Publishing. Christmas. Comic-Cons.
It’s becoming one increasingly interconnected Red Cape world.
And judging by the diary…
Q4 could be interesting.
Probably best not to ask what’s on the whiteboard for next week - But it involves a DOOR for Affinity Outlet Staffordshire’s Halloween fun!
